Field Trip #2 in the Ruhr area

On December 10, 2015 and back-to-back to the workshop in Herten, a delegation of selected Polish municipality representatives was invited to visit good practice examples from the Ruhr area in Germany.

Former heart of the coal mining industry in Germany, the Ruhr area has managed to reinvent itself around new, clean technologies. Site visits included the former coal mine of Ewald, the project Gartenstadt der Zukunft, which focuses on the refurbishment of former coal miners’ settlements, the technology park of Gelsenkirchen and the redevelopment project InnovationCity Ruhr in Bottrop.
